Queen Mantis

“Serena... I’m almost done,” he whispers hoarsely. “I’ll bring you back... stronger than before.”

No answer only the dripping of liquid and the hum of broken machines. Elias stares at an old photograph of his wife, Serena, smiling warmly in the dusty frame. But beneath the table, something moves.

Slowly, a creature emerges from the shadows half-human, half-insect. Its emerald eyes glow faintly, its face still resembling Serena, yet cold… emotionless.

Elias steps back, breath shaking. “Serena...? Do you... remember me?” The creature’s voice answers soft, yet piercing. “I’m no longer Serena... I am the Queen Mantis.”
